There is MORE to health than what you EAT!

Updated: Mar 17, 2023

Although my passion has always been healthy eating from an early age...thanks mum and dad; I have learnt over the years that this is only one factor when improving your health!

Your health starts with your mind. What are you thinking? What are you telling yourself on a daily basis? Are you having thoughts of despair? Worry? Stress? Sadness? Negativity? When you think these thoughts, what do you do next? Reach out for some comfort food? Or perhaps a few too many glasses of alcohol?

Your mind and thoughts are very important for your health because these determine what actions you take next. Sort out your mind, get rid of the clutter, consciously decide to become more positive and witness what actions you take after you experience affirmatory thoughts!

What can you do to quiet your mind and improve your thoughts?

1) Focus on something constructive & positive

"Oh gosh, I can't believe the way Layla looked at me that way...." blah blah blah. Right before you start going on with that mental tangent about an insignificant person or event that occurred five years ago, observe it and STOP! Shift your focus on to something else. What do you want to achieve today? What great thing happened to you today? Is it Sunny outside? No? Is it raining? Great- be thankful for that! Do you have to wash your hair? Brilliant, go and do that instead but don't jump down that rabbit hole of mental turmoil and destruction.

2) Observe your thoughts, feelings and opinions

Being in this society where negativity is promoted everyday, sometimes it can be quite challenging to have pure, clear thoughts of your own. So when you find yourself judging someone; step back and truly analyse why you are doing this. Judging someone else does not make you better and it definitely doesn't change your life in the slightest. So what is it that is truly bothering you? Perhaps, there's an insecurity that you have that needs to be addressed. Focus on improving yourself so that you don't need to judge or compare yourself to others.

3) Mantras/Affirmations

A mantra/affirmation is a word or sentence that you repeat over the course of the day; they help to focus your mind and cultivate the qualities you want to embody. Used for millennia, mantras and affirmations carry certain vibrations that help us to raise our energy frequency.

4) Meditation

Now that you may be practising the last 3 tips, surely you are ready for the ultimate she-bang! Meditation! The practise which has been used in many cultures and traditions to enter trance like states, become superhuman and achieve things thought impossible to man. Meditation is a simple and free method to calm your mind, connect your inner self and to regain lost energy.
